  • The forecasted river level peak has been revised from 1182.60 ft. above sea level at 1st Street to 1181.3 to 1182.1 ft. above sea level which is down between 6” and 1’. The date for the Assiniboine River to peak in Brandon has been moved ahead from July 11 to around July 6-7. The river level reading as of this morning is 1178.75 ft above sea level.
  • The curb lanes (northbound and southbound) on 18th Street North are closed and that leaves 1 lane of traffic in each direction. This closure will be in effect until approximately 5:00 pm today. The lanes will be reopened as soon as it is safe for motorists to drive through the area.
  • 1st Street is closed between Pacific Avenue and Kirkcaldy Drive.
  • Pacific Avenue at 8th Street is now a 3-way Stop and residents are asked to use Rosser and Princess Avenue routes as much as possible to help traffic flow.
  • Work on the dike construction across Grand Valley Road is expected to be completed around noon today.
  • The public is reminded to stay behind all barricades at the Wheat City Golf Course due to high, fast moving water which has flowed onto #1 hole. The higher six holes of the course will stay open.
  • The Fire Department is moving a portion of their staff and equipment to their secondary location north of the river.
  • The Police are ready to move some staff to their secondary location north of the river.
  • The Riverbank Discovery Centre staff are moving out of their facility today to a temporary location in the Shoppers Mall. Conservation Drive is closed.
  • An emergency exit has been opened in the fence behind the Corral Centre and will be barricaded until needed.
  • Emergency Social Services Staff are working on a pre-evacuation notice for areas north and south of the river and these will be delivered tonight and over the weekend. We are currently putting the finishing touches on this.
  • The dike will continue to be monitored on a regular basis.
  • Volunteers are being coordinated this morning to assist with sandbagging a residential property on Rosser Avenue East.
  • Transit has added a bus to the north hill route. There are traffic delays due to congestion so leave extra time to reach your destination. Because of delays, passengers are asked to watch for the buses and drivers will be watching for passengers.
  • Drivers are asked to avoid travelling on Kirkcaldy unless necessary and to be patient with the traffic delays for a few days.
